Sunday, Aug 7 Galbraith Group 6:30 pm No Cover
A whole lotta Galbraith. No sibling rivalry here; just brother sister jams where AOR is fair game for interpretation into instrumentals that rock and rollick as well as blues and jazz their way through to your Florida avenue adjacent ears.

Long Bio:
Based out of Clearwater, FL, Galbraith Group, a family band consisting of brother Josh Galbraith on guitar and sisters Ashley and Taylor on bass and drums, has been hitting it at local clubs and the festival scene with passionate live shows throughout the state. This instrumental trio has been gradually carving their way by developing a sound reminiscent of an era gone by; taking primary inspiration from the British blues groups and progressive rock bands of the 60’s and 70’s right through the 80’s, to numerous other musical influences discovered while listening from a young age to their parents’ vast vinyl collection, varying from the likes of legendary bluesman Albert King, to the eccentric composer, Frank Zappa, and most everything in between.

As with most young musicians, the Galbraiths spent a great deal of time learning to play through private lessons and practice, transcribing, and participating in open jams at local venues. They soon took it upon themselves to delve even deeper into their bluesy roots, by digging up old gems like Freddie King, Elmore James, Howlin’ Wolf and Muddy Waters to name a few, finding an enhanced appreciation for the music they had grown to love. By immersing themselves in the timeless music of past generations, they were further exposed to the jazz era, listening to compositions by big bands of the day, as well as straight ahead jazz artists like Miles Davis and Thelonius Monk.

To further their understanding of jazz music, they auditioned for the Ruth Eckerd Hall Jazz Band and were accepted, where they studied for several years, opening up their vocabulary to so many more prestigious artists and their history, as well as learning to perform in a horn/piano driven, quintet, to full ensemble setting. Later on, they also became more familiarized with funk and motown music, and developed a great appreciation for many legendary artists, such as the Godfather, James Brown, and soul brother Curtis Mayfield, as well as modern interpreters like Soulive and Lettuce. That being said, jazz theory and concept, along with good ol’ funk, has contributed greatly to Galbraith Group’s sound, though heavily bottomed in blues and edgy, progressive rock.

Galbraith Group has performed alongside acts such as Lotus, Nahko and Medicine For The People, Charles Bradley and his Extraordinairs, Toubab Krewe, The Werks, Grammy Award-winning Larry Mitchell, Greenhouse Lounge, amongst many others, and has been direct support for Voice Of The Wetlands, comprising of premiere Louisiana musicians Cyril Neville, Tab Benoit, Johnny Vidacovich, Johnny Sansone, Waylon Thibodeaux, and Big Chief Monk Boudreaux.

All and all, this power trio, with their visible family bond on and off stage along with their eclectic variety of sound and dynamic given in each performance, is beginning to become recognized as something completely unique. One can guarantee each show will always possess an improvised and in-the-moment vibe that can surely capture every music lover! It is truly, all about the music.
